This chapter is taken from a point about two fifths of the way into the novel. You'll see that the format of the novel is very short, punchy chapters. This chapter is only a couple of pages long. All chapters begin with the time and the date since the novel follows Jack's journey in real time through the summer and the host of ups and downs, twists and turns that it brings. It involves Jack and a female colleague indulging in a bit of email flirting. Have a read. I can vividly remember the moment when I knew that the boy/girl thing would never be the same again. It was about 6 years ago and I was 19ish. My mate gushed, "Here, Ste. Have a look at this - photos on your mobile phone." Immediately, my mind was catapulted into the future, fast forwarded to a plethora of broken hearts and lost loves. Things would never be the same again for the wandering boyfriend for a start - not (I hasten to strongly add) that this was one of my concerns. I was too busy tormenting myself with my own unique reasons for despising the camera phone. But more of that later!

Do any famous people appear in the novel? Who? What are they doing?

My brother’s friend said he reviewed the novel and there are quite a few Oasis references within it. Is this true? And if so, why?
